ABOUT THE GAME
KENA: BRIDGE OF SPIRITS is an upcoming action-adventure game developed and published by Ember Labs. Ember Lab founders Mike and Josh Grier are in charge of the game's development.
After several years of
developing commercials and branded applications, the development team decided to
create an original video game. They formed a partnership with Sony Interactive
Entertainment for a console-exclusive deal and the team grew to 15 core
members. The game's art was created in collaboration with the Vietnamese
animation studio Sparx, and the game's fictional world is inspired by places
like Japan and Bali. Jason Gallaty composed the original score in collaboration
with the Balinese ensemble group Gamelan udamani to create respectful gamelan
music.
STORY
The plot
revolves around Kena, a young spirit guide who uses her magical abilities to
assist deceased people in transitioning from the physical to the spirit world. The
game is presented from a third-person perspective. Kena's staff is used to attack
enemies, and her pulse ability is used to defend against attacks. They are
tasked with gathering small spirit companions known as the Rot, who assist them
in completing tasks and fighting enemies.
GAMEPLAY
Kena: Bridge
of Spirits is an action-adventure game played from a third-person perspective. The
player controls Kena, a young spirit guide with magical abilities. In combat,
the player uses Kena's staff for light, heavy, and charged attacks.
The staff can
be upgraded to become a bow with an upgrade. When defending against enemies,
the player can use Kena's pulse ability, which serves as a shield and has a
health meter that depletes when attacked; it also provides clues and activates
objects.
The player is tasked with collecting small spirit companions known as the Rot . They can be directed to complete tasks, such as moving objects, taking certain shapes, or distracting enemies.
The player must damage enemies before the Rot builds
enough courage to join battles. The Rot can be customized with different hats.
The game utilizes the Dual Sense controller's haptic feedback for features such
as Kena's Spirit Bow.
