ABOUT THE GAME




Returnal is a third-person shooter game developed by Housemarque and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. Set in a futuristic science fiction setting, the player controls Selene, the protagonist who is a space pilot, equipped with a suit and armed with high-tech weapons, she is stranded on the alien planet Atropos and stuck in a time loop. After every death, Selene is resurrected, following a pattern of traversing across foreign environments and combating extraterrestrial entities with growing visions in an ever-changing world.

 


  

GAMEPLAY

The game will take advantage of the Playstation 5’s Dual Sense controller and Engine to support advanced feedback, 3D spatial audio and real-time ray tracing effects thus enhancing the players experience on a 4K resolution.




After crash-landing on a shape-shifting world, Selene must search through the barren landscape of an ancient civilization for her escape. Isolated and alone, she finds herself fighting tooth and nail for survival. Again and again, she’s defeated – forced to restart her journey every time she dies.



Through relentless roguelike gameplay, you’ll discover that just as the planet changes with every cycle, so do the items at your disposal. Every loop offers new combinations, forcing you to push your boundaries and approach combat with a different strategy each time from high stakes, bullet hell-fueled combats, to visceral twists and turns through stark and contrasting environments.



Gameplay elements such as exploration, combat, and collecting powerups are key components that will help players discover and understand the story better, including the history of the alien planet, the ancient civilization that once resided there, and the truth about the time loop.
