HORIZON: FORBIDDEN WEST
Release Date: Winter 2021
Platform: PlayStation 5/ PlayStation 4
ABOUT THE GAME
Horizon
Forbidden West is an action role-playing game played in third person. Players
take control of Aloy, a huntress in a world filled with dangerous machines. The
game will be set in an open world in post-apocalyptic California, Utah, and
Nevada, and will explore the mysterious frontier known as the Forbidden West.
The map will
be larger than in the previous game, and it will be filled with secrets hidden
beneath the rubble of the Ancient Ones' world. The game will include a number
of recognizable locations, such as a ruined San Francisco and the Yosemite
Valley, each with its own ecosystem. The element of underwater exploration is
a significant addition to the sequel.
Players will
be able to investigate the mysteries hidden beneath the surface of seas, lakes,
and rivers. With the addition of the Valor Surge system, freeform climbing, and
tools such as the Shield wing, Focus Scanner, Diving Mask, and Pull caster, the game will also feature improved melee combat, revamped climbing mechanics, and
improved traversal options over the original game.
FORZA HORIZON DELAY
Horizon
Forbidden West, the upcoming sequel to Guerrilla Games and Sony Interactive
Entertainment's popular open-world adventure has reportedly been pushed back
to the first quarter of 2022. The game was initially scheduled to release for
the holiday season of 2021 on the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4.
There's also
the past year of the pandemic to consider in terms of slowing development, and
when the game was mentioned, the feeling was that they were trying to get it
out this holiday season, but it didn't feel like a sure thing.
Since the
delay was confirmed, there has been speculation that Sony will lose its biggest
exclusive of the holiday season and the year in general. Despite the fact that
Sony was the fastest company to sell over 10 million gaming consoles in a
single year, the practical implications for the PS5 are... almost nothing.
