WHAT WE KNOW
Hell blade: Senua’s Sacrifice is a dark fantasy action-adventure game developed and published by Ninja Theory. Senua, the female protagonist is a warrior who must make her way to Helheim by defeating enemies and facing their challenges, in order to rescue the soul of her dead lover from the goddess Hela.
The game was first released in 2017 for PC and PlayStation, later was
released for Xbox, switch, and VR in 2018 and 2019. The game is a strategic
fighting game similar to FOR HONOR
meaning every strike must be made carefully (you can’t just be swinging like devil may cry).
GAMEPLAY
The game is not an open
world game but it allows the character to move freely. Like I said it is a
strategic game and requires patience and timing because the game does not
feature heads up display (indicators
in games that allows a gamer to know where the character was hit from) and tutorials.
It is great and
terrifying, taking the player on a journey into madness. She carries a
sword that makes her a lethal danger. She is on a quest to save her beloved
Dillion, who has been slain by Northmen. Senua must go to the Norse version of
hell to not just retrieve Dillion from the dead but also deal with the legacy
of her ill-fated parents. It is an insane quest in a nightmare world,
undertaken by a hero who is so emotionally disturbed that she sometimes fights
imaginary demons.
Like I said, the game is
similar to For honor, the
timing must be right. You can trust, do a quick slash, or aim a heavy blow.
But you aren’t all-powerful, and even one of the weaker villains can bring you
down if you get your timing wrong.
When you have the
advantage, you must press it. And when you are fighting an all-powerful enemy,
you have to use your accumulated “focus,” which enables you to slow downtime
and get in a bunch of blows all at once. But that doesn’t make it easy. You
can’t even hit some of the demons until you use your focus, and then you have
to wait for it to build up again before you can strike. I fought many battles
over and over. You have to spend a lot of your time-solving puzzles by looking
at the same scenes from different points of view.
HONESTLY, THIS GAME IS NOT FOR EVERY GAMER.
